A Gallant Scene – Big wooden decorative box with a mirror

Description

This big, fascinating, decorative, hand painted with an antique style wooden box would look very elegant on display. It also could be very good for storing your personal accessories e.g. jewellery / cosmetics. The box has removable upper tray with 2 compartments, big main compartment, mirror and a decorative metal clasp. On the top of this wooden box I have hand painted a scene after Rococo artist Francois Boucher (18 century).  Around the main scene I have hand painted a very beautiful Rococo style – Trompe l’oeil, yellow frame which gives an antique look. Trompe l’oeil is an art technique that uses realistic imagery to create the optical illusion. The main colour of the box is dark burgundy. On the front and the two sides of the box were painted some other ornaments with garlands of roses. Underneath is painted black. Inside the box on the edges was added Wax Gilt (gold leaf). Inside the main box, removable upper tray with 2 compartments and the mirror I have hand decorated with decorative fabric and golden twisted cords, hand made bow which also make the box very decorative. The wooden box was decorated, painted, covered with a gloss varnish and comes signed by me. The box comes empty, tassel not included.
